extra pickles

other vices: busch light, dance floors

raj’s last day in the office was friday, june 3.  sad day.  too many drinks later on the roosevelt hotel’s rooftop bar (mad46—one of those “seriously, why are there people lined up behind this velvet rope?” type bars) and it was time for him to go.

to the east village i went to have meet the high school crew.  life lesson: the $1.89 bottomless bag of BB pretzels is your corner store’s best buy.  and alliteration is the coolest!

cruised through an art show on saturday called greater L.A.  but first found a mirror on the side of the street to take a picture in.  i think i’ll start a series..

anyway, this show.  well first, on galleries in general: i’d really like to get a better education on them and shows and that scene in general.  not necessarily because i want to get caught up in it, but because i think i appreciate art more than your average john (aesthetically at least) and this city has an abundance of this entirely new channel (new to me) by which i can explore it.  but i’m pretty clueless with it so far—only found this one because of time out’s “own this city” feature.

anyway, this show was.. interesting.  a huge loft space housing a couple of cool things between a bunch of other.. stuff.  two big paintings by eduardo sarabia stood out—looked like large photographs (actually paintings) covered in splotches of color.  if i didn’t have such an adorable nephew i’d make that mark grotjahn shot my phone’s background.  and matt johnson’s twisted tire mobeus strip type thing was nice.

let it be remembered that june 5 was the day pieces raised their drink prices from $4 to $5.  the nickles and dimes are adding up.

on sunday the fountain in washington square was turned on.  and summer had begun!
