extra pickles

other vices: busch light, dance floors

back on wednesday may 18, kate was in town.  it’s nice to see family (i’m writing this from my brother’s couch in boston).  it perhaps doesn’t happen often enough, but it’s always a quality time.

that weekend was, in broken-record fashion, a nice one.  on saturday i ran into five people i know.  five.  james nick cecilia patrick and debbie.  and tim probably ran into another five he knew.  small city.

after a quick jaunt around union square he and i spent a good amount of hours in williamsburg—i’m continually impressed with the neighborhood.  the waterfront over there is rather pretty on a nice day.  the brooklyn flea was launching that day a big food fest called smorgasburg—if i only i could’ve found the stand selling pickles on sticks and snapped a pic for vaughn.

that night i hung out with the high school crew (i had noticed a few weeks prior that their apartment was featured in a little blurb in new york mag—their spot is blowing up).  it was will kurt and gimp’s birthdays around then.  dana who i probably hadn’t seen since sophomore year spanish with senora nieve was there too—she had just moved to the city.  a long, long night.

molly mike adam and nathan all rolled through on sunday.  adam’s sister had gotten married the night prior—sounded like quite the blast—and they were on their way home to DC.

went to bar 82 later that night to say peace out to tim.  it’s always sort of fun to meet someone’s friends having known that person purely as an individual.  the bar’s 2nd drink coupon when buying 2-for-1 drinks is a domino—i like that.

i sort of want to start taking home the marker coupons from different bars instead of getting the 2nd drink—they’d be ok mementos for what, $3.50 or whatnot, right?

and as should be clearly evident by now, i like hanging onto things.
