back to allentown the next week! i ran one night. i hadn’t run in ages and had been telling myself i needed to get back into it. the most disheartening part was weighing myself after—140. skinny guy whine a bit, but i had known i’d gained weight since moving to new york, and this objective confirmation was.. displeasing. my figure last summer was a bit artificial, and i can see my mom cringing at the mention of me thinking i need to drop a few, but still, it’d be nice to be back in the 135 range. guys in new york are ridiculously skinny!
(and so to aid in the process, i’ve of course stopped running altogether. because, you know, running is hard and all.)
adam stayed with me saturday, april 16. we happened upon pieces’ once-a-month saturday live band karaoke night, and to no one’s surprise adam sang a song that i now forget. we met josh for a quick drink at his place in williamsburg after—grandad and water is all the rage (bleehhh). sugarland was next, where adam decided we should dance on a speaker a la dc9. it’s a bit more precarious at sugarland though, with no ceiling rafters on which to hang. i miss adam and his “why wouldn’t you want to dance on that speaker?” attitude.
sunday brunch. we walked past a place called macondo on our way to essex in the LES, and ended up going back to macondo because of their unbeatable DC-esque bottomless mimosa deal for $9. pretty decent all around. chalkboard paint in the bathrooms is childishly fun.
adam left (in grand fashion—ordering a hookah and ditching the restaurant before it even came out) and i met up with tim for a pretty pleasant evening: bingo at pieces, brown bag beers on the turf at pier 46, pool (or rather, at that point, sitting in a corner trying to stay awake watching pool) at the rusty knot. what a fun one, that guy.
