as i finished up my previous post (yes, i’ve settled on calling these “posts”), i noticed tumblr’s example text for how to post a chat.  i laughed quite a bit because the guy who texted me about the piedmont bird callers (jason) also happens to be a huge fan of the olive garden.  which is just ridiculous.
personally, i quickly got over bay area pretensions that gordo, cactus taqueria, and cancun are the only “real” places to get a burrito as soon as i discovered chipotle in college.  but (maybe with the exception of chevy’s) never do i think that the suburban dining likes of olive garden, red lobster, and tgi fridays will ever find a place in my heart.
whenever i’m in new york with jason, he always semi-seriously brings up the idea of getting a TOI (tour of italy) at the gigantic OG (olive garden) in times square—which he affectionately refers to as Mecca.
